Crafting Prototype Pathway

During the past two weeks, the team continued to work diligently on creating accurate FEA results to get final approval from our sponsors. Many different FEAs have been conducted, and weekly meetings have been held to improve the accuracy of the results. The latest and most accurate FEA is pictured below in Figures 1 and 2. Additionally, to help determine accuracy, the team calculated the load shoulder stresses to compare to the FEA results, as shown in Figure 3.

For the upcoming work period, the team has scheduled a meeting with HMH’s FEA specialist to approve the results. Once the FEA has been approved, the team plans to complete several major milestones, including generating a small CAD of the existing design to serve as the first prototype and creating the appropriate technical drawings, which will contain the post-processing and machining stages.

However, the team foresees an obstacle over the next two weeks, which is not receiving approval for the latest FEA that has been conducted. The FEA has undergone many changes and updates throughout the past month, and the team is determined to depict accurate results for the sponsor so that the project can move forward to the next milestone. If the FEA is not approved, the team is prepared to intensify communication efforts by scheduling bi-weekly meetings with HMH's FEA specialist to finalize and confirm everything.
